Genae Angelique Crump graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1994. In 1995, she was admitted to the Florida bar. From 1995 to 1998, Crump practiced criminal law in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

In 1998, she relocated to the Eastern District of Virginia, where she is a law partner with her husband, Charles “Chuck” Crump, who is also a former federal prosecutor. Their law firm, Crump & Company, is one of the largest law firms in the Eastern District of Virginia.

Crump was appointed as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia. In 2011, she became the Chief of the Criminal Division in 2006. She was responsible for prosecuting federal crimes that are punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Crump was the recipient of the 2009 Virginia Law Enforcement Hall of Fame’s Award for Distinguished Service.
