For productive farming, farmers need an excellent tractor model that performs excellently. And, it is difficult for farmers to choose a tractor according to their farm needs. But did you know how agriculture tractors work? Which type of components are used in tractors? And more questions about their function. That’s why we are here with you to provide information about tractor’s components and parts.
The Indian market has many different tractor models available such as the Mahindra tractor etc. They are all easy to operate due to their parts and components, but what are they? Check out in the below section.
Essential Components and Parts of Agriculture Tractors
A tractor is an all-over machine for farmers that helps you for productive farming and makes your farming more accessible. Due to their components and parts, tractors can complete tasks efficiently.
Tractor Classifications
Every tractor is classified in different aspects with their function also. Check out the classification of the tractors in the section below.
Crawler Tractor
These tractors are known as chain type and track tractor type. An endless chain or a track can be place in the pneumatic wheels of such kinds of tractors.
Wheel Tractor
These tractors are commonly use as they are efficient and easy to use. They are 4 in pneumatic wheels and are mainly divided into general-purpose tractors, special tractors, and row crop tractors.
Power Tiller or Walking Tractor
As per name suggests, they are walking tractors fitted with only two wheels. They are also referring as Power Tillers. Farmers can systematically perform their operations.
Below, let’s see the parts of tractors and their components. And some of their features are use to operate tractor functions.
Main Farm Tractor Components
Following are the major components and features of agriculture tractors:-
Engine
An essential part of the tractor is the internal combustion engine. A combustion chamber is an oxidizer, and fuel is obtain in a confined space. A tractor is equipped with a machine placed over the tractor, and its units come in horsepower from 20 – 120 HP. It helps to operate a tractor by powering it.
Clutch
The clutch is an essential part that helps in drive function. It helps connect or disconnect the tractor engine from the drive wheels and transmission gears. Clutch systems transmit the power as friction between driven members and driving members. A clutch is separate into 3 main types: fluid coupling, Friction clutch, and Dog clutch.
Advantages of an excellent clutch
- An excellent clutch can handle every situation on the road and load without dragging.
- In addition, a clutch can transmit maximum power without any slippage.
- However, high resistance heat can affect friction.
Nowadays, most tractors are attach with a fluid clutch; a friction clutch is better for 4 wheel tractors, and a power tillers dog clutch is excellent.
Transmission System
A transmission system is use for the tractor’s controlled speed in different variants on the rear wheel. Transmission has many components to transmit the torque produced by the prime-mover or the engine to the driving wheels. There are two types of transmission systems available which are:-
- Constant Mesh Type Transmission
- Selective Sliding Type
Rear Wheels
As per the name suggests, these wheels fitted at the backside of the driver’s seat. The wheels provide a proper weight distribution while the tractor pulls any weight. Hence, they are larger in size than the front wheels.
Differential Unit
It is a unique arrangement of gears that allows one of the rear wheels to rotate slower or faster than the others. The tractor’s inner wheels have travelled less while the tractor turns on a curved path. The differential unit comprises:-
- Crown wheel
- Half shaft and
- Differential casing
- Differential Pinion
- Bevel gear
Steering Mechanism
The tractor’s steering system controls the angular movement of the front wheels when the operator turns. The method of the steering mechanism consists of various components such as a steering shaft, steering wheel, steering gear, drag link, kingpin, etc.
Hydraulic Control And Hitch System
Tractors are fitted with a hydraulics system to operate a three-point linkage system while attaching implements. Hydraulic systems are efficient to raise, control, hold, and manage the mounted or semi-mounted tools for productive farm operations.
Brakes
Brakes are an essential part of a tractor use to stop and slow down the tractor’s motion. This system is operated by the 2 independent pedals and is fitted at the driving axle. Two different kinds of brakes are available in a tractor that functions differently. They are mechanical and hydraulic brakes. These efficient brakes protect the operator and tractor from slippage and harmful accidents.
These are essential parts of tractors use differently and play a crucial role in the working of tractors. We hope this blog will guide you to understand your tractor working system. For more such informative blogs, stay tuned with us.
